is it normal to be able to feel your cervix through your rectum? i can identify my cervix vaginally - low, firm, central canal. however, i feel the same thing in the anterior part of rectum. is this my cervix i'm still feeling or a gi mass?

: You could if you have a sensitive finger. However, I wonder why you examined you rectum in the first place.

Pinched nerve: This is another way to say that you have a "pinched nerve" in your neck.  This can potentially cause neck pain, headaches, and/or pain that radiates into the arm.  Don't hesitate to be seen as there are many good treatment options.

Disc: If you are symptomatic with this you will likely need therapy of some type. I hope your are seeing a neurologist or neurosurgeon for this problem.

: You describe cervical stenosis, and in view of narrowing of the canal, even a mild disc bulge will have a greater impact.  Although your description does not mention focality other than your symptoms, this is not surprising, and does likely fit with pathology.  Bothersome is "flattening" of spinal cord, which is consistent with compression.  Get opinions from neurosurgery regarding  all of this.

: Actually, high-dose intravenous steroids may temporarily shrink the disc protrusion, but unlikely to be a permanent solution.  Desiccation and disc shrinkage may occur spontaneously over 9-10 months, another option.  Discuss with your spinal surgeon specialist.  Several potential scenarios.

See below : Mild central canal stenosis is mild narrowing of the canal which contains the spinal cord. This canal is composed of different aspects of the vertebral bodies. Degenerative changes in the intervertebral discs or vertebral bodies themselves can cause narrowing of the canal.  Mild stenosis is usually not symptomatic.

They can be confused: Growing symptomatic canals are syrinxes, prominent canals are usually asymptomatic incidental findings . hope that helps

These terms are : Closely related and sometimes the interpetation of the imaging can vary from one person to another.  Central canals can be variable in size and when they get too wide it is called a hydromyelia which imay be interchangeably used with the term syringomyelia.  You can get another opinion and even get several follow up mri's spaced out over months to see if there are any changes and a workup.

Not certain: As a practicing spine surgeon, I have never heard of " minor prominence of central canal." Whatever this may be, it appears to be a description of a CT or MRI of your thoracic spine. Myelopathy is a clinical finding. It is not something you can see on films. Myelopathy is often caused by narrowing of central canal mostly in cervical spine and occasionally in thoracic spine which can be seen CT/MRI
