With some challeges: An annular tear is essentially a tear in the cartilage of the disc.  Once present it may cause pain but usually one can control it with physical therapy.  If the tear is severely painful one can consider a spinal injection and rarely surgery.  It all depends on how long one has been in pain and to what degree.

TOO YOUNG FOR PAD: You are too young for PAD I will worry more about DVT. Specially if you have some swelling with the calf tenderness. It really depend on how where and when you are getting the pain walking? Standing? Is it aches or could it be muscle cramps how far you have to stop walking because of the pain does the pain goes away by stopping or you have to sit down to get relief yes your back could be the probl

Not Sure: There is no way to know for sure if the fall caused the tear.  To prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt, there would need to be an MRI right before the fall that looked normal.

Different : Annular tear is similar to a sprain--a torn ligament, and not normal. It's presence does not equate to pain. In fact, upon healing the MRI will show a persistent abnormality. Bulging is best described with squeezing the top and bottom of marshmallow. The edges bulge to absorb shock of body weight. This is the job of the disc. If nerves not pressured, completely normal.

Disc bulge and parac: That means tear at ligamnet with bulge of the disk between the spines, not yet prolapsed but it may happen with heavy lifting or trauma, the key is wheather there is nerve impingmnet or radiculopathy, or affection of muscle power of legs. It may be manageble by NSAID like Naproxen  and physical therapy but definitly needs eval by neurosurgeon first.

First, you need to : Confirm that this is the cause of your symptoms and that you have exhausted all the appropriate treatments for that diagnosis. These might include injections through pain management, pt, medication and time.  Lifestyle changes are important like weight control, regular exercise & not smoking.  To have a protrusion, there is an annular tear.  Surgical options are dependent on correct diagnosis.

Annular tear: a disc is like a jelly donut. a herniation means the jelly is squirting out. An annular tear means there is a crack in the donut but the jelly stays inside. Annular tears often lead to back pain especially with sitting.

Usually heals: They will usually heal, but they don't always and as such can sometimes cause chronic back pain.  A followup MRI would reveal if it is healed or not.

Symptoms?: These findings may or may not be responsible for your symptoms which are not listed but presumed to be pain. Degenerative disc : Degenerative disc disease is very common radiographically but does not necessarily mean symptoms will develop. Radiculopathy, or pain/odd feelings down the legs, can be caused when the disc pinches a nerve as it exits the spinal column. Back pain by itself is a much more heterogenous problem and may or may not be explained by degenerative changes seen on imaging studies like MRI.
