i'm getting my annual physical cbc, fasting blood work etc tomorrow morning. if i take a hydrocodone 16 hours before, could it mess up the results?

No: Only take stuff like that if you truly need it. Pain like that is reason enough to notify your physician

when getting a annual physical does the blood work include a drug test, and does the physical require a urine sample? i'm worried about false positive

Accepted Answer

It does not: You can only be tested for drugs of abuse with your consent. Your physician doing your routine history and physical will not screen you for recreational substances. False-positive drug-of-abuse tests that have medicolegal consequences are very uncommon as the results must be verified by a test using a different chemical principle. And even if you're actually using, your physician is your friend.

It depends: It usually consists of a blood count, urinalysis, a general metabolic screen and lipids. Other tests may be added depending on the policy of the company.

No: Cd4 counts are generally only measured in people with HIV infection or with certain other immunosuppressive conditions.

Screen for cancer : Screening for some cancers can be done by blood work during a routine physical, although the routine blood test does not screen for most cancers. During an annual physical, we do additional testing to screen for cancer based on the patient's risks.  for example, a 48-year-old male is routinely screened for colon cancer with a colonoscopy.  If the examination warrants advance testing may be needed.

Rhabdo and ckd: Given your age -  unlikely  -  that you will have lasting effects - as long as it was treated and treated promptly.  
To be sure you could have your physician draw a complete metabolic profile and do a urinanalysis

ALT: Why was a nine year old having labs done?  ALT could be high due to medication, a viral infection like mono or excess fat on the liver among other things.

It's common: Don't fear, this is common when you change doctors.  It may not be necessary, particularly the EKG in an otherwise young healthy man, but it's a holdover from prior primary care annual exam practices.  Best of luck.

Annual exams: There are certain examinations recommended annually for baseline data. What&#x27;s done, though, may depend on what your doctor&#x27;s been following all along plus whether s/he&#x27;s  a completely new doctor to you or not. Latuda (lurasidone) Follow-up: While no spec tests are rec and gen safe: would check blood sugar before start and if sx's of ⬆️ BS or have Dr. mon if at risk. Can also raise a hormone called prolactin. Usually no sx's, but can cause breast tenderness, fullness or rarely low testosterone. I also recommend mon kidney function before and intermittent while on it. Tests should be guided by sx's. Discuss any new sx's with Dr.
