Out of Context: Nothing. Taking one or two lines out of a full page of lab results takes the tests out of context.  The interpretation of blood tests is done with a full medical history, the reason the tests were done and the tests as a whole.

Nonspecific: These findings may be normal but we need to know if his red blood cell (hgb and Hct) are normal or low before getting too excited about it.  Why don't you ask the doctor who ordered the tests about these findings?

No.: Mild cramping and significant emotional stress are typical aroudn/after amniocentesis. Most operators do not use local anesthesia as its administration would hurt more than the amniocentesis itself. Take some tylenol (acetaminophen) right before the procedure to numb the colicky cramps that follow. Risk of loss of pregnancy is between 1% and 1/1000 cases.

Emotionally.: Emotional preparation would be my main advice to you. Otherwise, the procedure is pretty painless and quick and should not require much preparation on your part.

No: It is a personal decision.  Some patients want to know with 100% certainty whether or not the baby has a chromosomal problem and would terminate a pregnancy if it had such a problem.  Some patients do not want to risk losing a normal pregnancy because of the amnio and would not terminate the pregnancy.
