Difficult problem: This can be very difficult to treat. Working through possible causes is critical as a first step. Local infections or irritations, or itching as a sign of a systemic problem like crohn's should be addressed directly. If no clear cause, a very short course of topical steroids can help, but caution with too strong or too long. Some rx meds can help (elavil). Omt & acupuncture have helped my patients.

Pruritus ani: could be pruritus ani, but suggest being checked by your gp or dermatologist. There are good techniques including sitz baths and diets to use in order to lessen the problem as well as topical  meds to help. First make sure the dx is confirmed.

my vigina and anal area is itchy, thought it was soap, because i changed it , stop using soap down there , but the itch still persists, its been 2 weeks now ?

Probable fungal: vaginitis. I suggest using only baby soap and use antifungal vaginal cream ( Monistat or Terazole. If extensive and spreading, you may need oral antifungal medicine.

i have a small bump on the exterior right next to my anus and its extremely itchy not sure what it can be ? ive also noticed my anus is a grayish color on the exterior is that normal ? are the two correlated?

Anus: This small bump could be a cyst or ingrown hair. Lack of pain or tenderness rules out an infection such as a perianal pustule or abscess. The color of your anus doesn't suggest any pathology. To relieve itch, apply warm compresses, pat dry and apply a cortisone type ointment. See your MD as needed.

Parasites or Yeast: The most common cause of anal itching (also called pruritis ani) are intestinal parasites or an overgrowth of yeast in the colon.  Sometimes food reactions can cause itching and this should be easy to track down.

Caffeine: Is the most common cause of anal itching not hemorrhoids as stated win the ads. Pinworms can be another cause usually in children after playing in the dirt. But cokes, coffe, tea, chocolate, and energy drinks like red bull have lots of caffeine leading to severe itching and bleeding, even waking you from your sleep at night clawing at your bottom. Stop the caffeine! also yeast infection could be.

"Pruritis Ani": There are many causes.  Pinworms, hemorrhoids, yeast infections, poor hygiene, sexual practices, medications, lotions, creams and other topicals applied to the area may cause itching.  Moisture from sweating or bathing suits may cause itching.  Viral infections, maceration of skin from rubbing or scratching or other trauma may cause this as well.  Try good hygiene, drying the area, and observe.
