Some help: Balneol cream and tucks (witch hazel) pads may be somewhat soothing. Sitz baths with epsom salts may also help. Sit in a bath tub with just enough hot water to cover your anal area (not hot enough to burn you but as hot as you can tolerate) and supersaturate with about 12 tblspn of epsom salts.10 minutes twice a day. Usually is quite effective.

Anal fissure treatme: There is really not a good otc rx for anal fissure. Get tour physician to perscribe xylocaine (lidocaine) jelly and use it before each bowel movement. Hot soaks immediatly after each bowel movement and metamucil or citrucel daily. It may take months to heal. Follow up with your family physician if this conservative therapy doesn't work. Some diseases can cause anal fissures...See your physician.

: You have to be examined by a competent MD to differentiate one from the other. If it hurts see a surgeon who can remove it easily. Dont worry you will be OK

As long as needed: Although it is advertised as maximum strength it is actually one of the mildest steroid creams available. That site is often prone to an overgrowth of yeast which the cream does not effect. Using a clotrimazole cream occasionally can reduce this yeast.

Not really: constipation with hard and big sized stool and trauma to the anal area are the main reasons

Yes: A chronic fissure will often develop a "sentinel tag"  at the base of the fissure.  If you have growths elsewhere it may be unrelated to the fissure.

Depends: If the fissure is acute and shallow, correction of an abnormal bowel  issue will resolve it in 2-3 weeks. A chronic fissure may stop bleeding but may not heal without surgical correction. You need to be properly evaluated with a discussion of your diet, fluid intake, bowel pattern and confirming the diagnosis with followup to confirm actually healing even if the symptoms resolve. Start with GP: Before jumping to treatment make sure you have the diagnosis confirmed with your GP. Fissures are not commonly cut and/or drained and they are typically seen in inflammatory bowel disease. If surgery needed your GP will be able to advise based on your insurance plan.

hello, i am healing from anal fissure since 2 weeks and following the home treatment regime. how long should i avoid playing some sport (badminton or basketball). is there a chance that fissure might reopen? also, do fissures ever heal permanently?

: Regular exercise and sports shouldn't aggravate a healing or healed anal fissure but the bearing down like you're straining to have a bowel movement does. If you don't require such a straining motion during basketball or badminton, these activities should be ok for you. On the other hand, weight lifting would be a no no!
