Maybe but : Something is clearly wrong if these are the symptoms you're having. Instead of trying to decide if this might be herpes i highly suggest seeing a doctor right away for evaluation testing and treatment. You need to find out what is causing anal discharge.

Very different: Anal warts are the result of viral infection of the skin with human papilloma virus and generally firm and painless, whereas hemorrhoids are enlarged blood vessels under the lining of the anus and generally are soft and also painless (unless it clots, in which case it can be very painful). The treatments are quite different.

: It could be an external hemorrhoid or infected ingrown hair. At this tike I would apply hot (not too hot) moist compresses on &amp; off. Pat dry and apply an antibacterial ointment. See an MD if the swelling and/or tenderness doesn't resolve.
