No: Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type of antibiotic. It is by prescription only. There is no similar over-the-counter product in the U.S.  If a person has a new illness that might need amoxicillin, then a visit to the doctor&#x27;s office is typically needed. Must see doctor: Sorry, but there is no getting around it:  you must see a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment. If amoxicillin worked last time, that REDUCES the chance it would be effective now. You must not simply take amoxicilin; that could be dangerous. See a doctor. Good luck.

Yes : Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is a good, broad spectrum antibiotic for sinus infection- it is Amoxicillin and clavulanate which helps prevent resistant infections.  You could use a decongestant (and or antihistimine) over the counter to help with symptoms (can be used at the same time).

will liquid albuterol help my sinus infection? i've been taking amoxicillin i was prescribed at the er but couldn't afford the other medication. nothing over-the-counter is helping! please help i have a horrible cough and so much pressure in my head still

No: Albuterol is a bronchodilator used to open airways in the lungs.  It has minimal effects on the sinuses or upper airways.

About 3 weeks.: Even after an antibiotic has gotten rid of the infection, fluid can remaining the middle ear.  This fluid can cause temporary hearing loss and a sensation of fullness. If you continue to have hearing loss a month after the active infection has resolved, you need to follow up with your doctor to have your situation reassessed.  Dr. Anne.

Consider consult: Hard to know without more information. Allergy is possible, but so is inflammation from a partially treated infection.  Sometimes a longer course of antibiotics is necessary for true bacterial sinus infection, particularly if there was initial improvement. Sometimes a short prednisone course is given to resolve inflammation and improve efficacy of the antibiotic. Consider a consult to discuss.

my daughter is 9 and is taking amoxicillin for strep , she has a cough that won't stop so which kind of cough medicine can i buy otc for her ?

Persistent cough: Can be due to a cold , flu , allergies , sinus , virus, infection, chemicals causing postnasal drainage. You can certainly try giving her allergy meds like claritin, (loratadine) allegra. Zyrtec to see if it helps ease up the coughing. She can also take some expectorants to help thin out the thick mucus clogging up the airways. Drink plenty of warm liquids. If she suffers from asthma, she needs to see her doctor.

can otc generic amoxicillin treat uti, along w/ it im taking otc azo and vit c to acidify my urine..

UTI: If the otc medication you buy is really Amoxicillin and the bacteria that causes the UTI is sensitive to the amoxicillin, yes it would, taking " azo" and vit c would not make much of a difference , Amoxicillin alone would cure an ucomplicated uti.
