Why using : Enemas? You should be eating enough fruits and veggies that you should not need enemas. Water enemas are not safe and can alter your electrolytes. Miralax (polyethylene glycol) , store brand, is a safe laxative to use that will not harm you if taken for a long time. It works by softening and bulking the stool. Best!

i have not had a bm in 12 days i took ex lax dulcolax enemas and citrate and nothing what should i do its been 4.5 hours since i took a whole bottle of citrate ?

Doctor can examine: Twelve days is a long time. The concern is regarding the cause of the constipation. One's primary care doctor can look for the cause, and if nothing serious is found, then an enema and/or prescription meds like Linzess may help. A GI specialist (the one who does colonoscopies) can also be helpful in evaluating chronic constipation symptoms.

Yes, even more times: You can safely use saline enemas several times assuming you are treating simple constipation but if you are getting no result, have abdominal pain, fever, or vomiting, go to the ER or see your doctor.

can i use 0.9% sodium chloride irrigation for an enema? i have a reusable enema bottle, i can't go to the nursing station here all they do is send me home, they are no help, they send me home, i live way up in the north(canada) we have lack of health care

Yes: Sodium chloride solution is fine.  Any non-toxic fluid will do.  The Gerson cancer clinic in Mexico popularized the use of coffee enemas as a liver/gall bladder detoxifying solution as a mainstay of their cancer treatment programs.  Hospitals routinely use soap suds enemas as a bowel prep.
