Cellulite lotion: Aminophylline has been a useful drug for asthma. It is still used but not as frequently. When used  by mouth or intravenously we are able to check the blood levels to avoid toxicity. It's use for the cellulites as  a local application is quite safe. However, the effectiveness is controversial.  I guess there will be no harm in trying. Please share your experience.

why do they give aminophylline to some preemies?

For apnea or prem.: Aminophylline may be preferred to enhance contractility in the diaphragm/lungs or benefit from it's bronchodilator properties.Side effects-possible decrease in cerebral blood flow & concerns re: role in the occurrence or severity of necrotizing enterocolitis. Caffeine has a wider therapeutic margin-less chance of overdosing-thus it is the preferred agent.

No cure-but helps-: In the 1960s &1970s, theophylline was a popular option for the treatment of chronic stable asthma, largely because of the disadvantages of alternative therapies. Theophylline has potential toxic side effects, necessitating monitoring of serum levels (blood test). Standard modern therapy now comprises of inhaled nebulized β2 agonists (albuterol) and inhaled/systemic corticosteroids.

Symptoms now ??: Aminophyllin at that dosage over the long term can precipitate uncontrollable seizures.If the errror was caught before that ensued, the med would have the effects of irritability, headaches and rapid heart rate. After the level has dropped to normal and or the medication is out of their system, no long term problems are usually seen. As a cousin of caffeine, its effect and side effects r similar.

Not sure t: If you're talking about the "jitteriness" with albuterol and aminophylline, this should diminish the longer you take them but on a routine basis. Prednisone is another story. Water retention, acne, weight gain is common but does not necessarily diminish with time. If it can be switched to a inhaled form, the side effects candiminish dramatically.

Apnea and bradycardi: Aminophyllin is used less and less. Usually caffeine is used, less side effects, less monitoring. Caffeine is usuaily discintinued within 2 months after discharge.
