You should avoid other drugs in this class including tetracycline, Minocycline and tigecycline.  What alternative antibiotic is chosen would depend on what infection or bacteria needed treatment.

Maybe no antibiotic: First have a frank conversation with your doctor about whether you need antibiotic treatment of any kind. Most prostatitis is non-infectious and antibiotics don't help. They're usually worth a try, but it's often best to stop after a couple of tries don't work and limit treatment to urine flow drugs, NSAIDs, etc. If documented bacterial infection, maybe consult with infectious disease specialist.

Please clarify: Both of those drugs are the two drugs that are most likely to cure chlamydia. There are no better medications. What doses did you take?

Chlamydia: Tw grams of Flagyl is recommended or one gram of Erythromycin can also be given.

i was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis about 2 years ago. i've taken doxycycline first then metronidazole. doxycycline reduced discharge but it came back after sometime. metronidazole-no effects. i'd like to know if there's alternative treatment?

: In view of no effect by metro. and poor by doxy- I would suggest an exam by a Gyn to see for any local problem and to also re-culture the area In the meantime keeping the area clean, using a condom and trying a OTC boric acid product
