The blood: lowering effects are very minimal and will not lead to hypoglycemia in an otherwise normal individual. However, they won't help any known medical problem and are a waste of money. Don't get your medical information from friends, tv or internet scams.

Volume overload: Because in the pathology of hypertension, volume expansion is often a problem.  Simple diuretics can fix this issue.  Alpha blockers have a bunch of side effects that are undesirable.
