Since that is the case, it certainly can occur at that age.

YES INDEED: 1) Check with Endocrinologist if there are hormonal reasons.
If excess male hormones-he may prescribe anti-androgens.
2) Stress excess should be reduced in a major type of loss such as Telogen effluvium.
Finding its triggers: meds, traction, postpartum, postmenopausal and more and correcting this may have hair return by itself..

No - beta-sitosterol: No -there are no 5-aris available indicated to treat female-patterned alopecia.  As far as otc products, beta-sitosterol probably does have activity similar to the 5-aris, but is only 1/1000th as potent, and, again, is not indicated for female-patterned alopecia.
