im 17 f got steroid shot for iliopsoas tendonitis 5 weeks ago. 35% better. still can't sit comfortably. should i consider a 2nd shot? any side effects?

Accepted Answer

No: Too soon. Have your dr. Arrange for some physical therapy. Too much cortisone not healthy.

had a severe psychiatric response to a steroid shot yrs ago (have had mild ones to cipro as well). is a 4mg,6 day, tapering dose of methylprednisolone be likely to cause the same? or any of the side effects for that matter?

This would be hard: to predict. Likely the dose of steroid was much greater with the steroid injection than 24 mg of  oral methylprednisolone. But you have demonstrated a sensitivity for exogenous steroids that most people don't have  (most people don't have a "severe psychiatric response" to an injection!). So I would be VERY careful and would avoid all steroids unless required in a life-threatening situation.

about 14 weeks ago had a steroid shot for sore throat and i still have side effects from it. extreme nervousness and anxiety, depression. what should i do?

See a doctor soon: High dose steroids can cause such symptoms, but not likely to last this long. However, they also can trigger underlying mental health conditions. Your symptoms sound serious:  see your doctor ASAP. Good luck!

3 types of steroids: Dexamethasone and similar drugs are of the glucocorticoid type of steroid drugs, and has uses in a variety of disorders. It has anti-inflammatory effects and suppresses the immune system's activity (thus treats allergic reactions). Anabolic steroids (type of sex steroids) are abused by some people to increase muscle mass. The third type of steroid are the mineralcorticoids (affects salt balance).

See below: Zyrtec D is stronger than Claritin D.
Generally speaking if Claritin or Allegra are not helping allergists will often ask the patient to double the dose(plain anti-histamine with out the "D").  Flonase will often help nasal symptom. i had to take a steroid shot yesterday do to allergies and i woke with both my hands feeling like there asleep. is that a allergic reaction to shot?

No: Allergic reaction usually present as a rash or swelling or gastroentestinal symptoms. Numness of the hands in the morning can be due to your position when you are sleeping.

i went to the doctor on friday and was treated for an allergy; a steroid shot, a nasal spray and since then i have ran a steady fever of 100- 100.2.

Perhaps not allergy: Since none of those medications should cause a fever,  it's possible the diagnosis was wrong and you actually have a respiratory tract infection. Symptoms are very similar between the two disorders,  except fever not usually present with allergies.  If not improving in next few days,  give doc a call back and let them know that you have fever as well. In meantime,  get lots of rest and fluids.

after taking the allergy shot in my primary doctor office which is a steroid shot on march 27, 23 my period has been irregular like 2-3 times a months and lasting over a week. and now its been 5 months and im still having irregular period still?

: It is more likely coincidental between those 2 events rather than a true causal relationship. With that significant gynecologic history, you should see a GYN doctor for a proper evaluation. Good luck.

had allergy with swollen lips & eyes 2 days ago. took benadryl (diphenhydramine) and a steroid shot. today having rash on torso and extremities. allergic to injection?

More info.: Large dose of steroid can cause acne.  However the rash may also be just a part of the swollen lips and eyes process which returns when the level of steroid starts to fall off.  I presume that you are on Benadryl (diphenhydramine).
