It depends on your reaction history.

Antihistamines may help mild cases, but if you have trouble breathing or other symptoms see a doctor.

INSECT BITE ALLERGY: It depends on the allergic reaction. If it is only itchy  bumps, hc cream or other steroids plus Benadryl (diphenhydramine) intake will suffice. If the reaction is severe like anaphylactic shock or angioedema, you need Epipen shots or call 911.

Accepted Answer

Depends whatyou mean: Hornet/insect bites can cause itching, hives, localized swelling all the way up to systemic reactions (anaphylaxis).

If you mean can they cause nose or eye symptoms this would be indicative of a more systemic reaction (wheezing, swelling etc.).  Any suspected systemic reaction should be treated immediately with Epinephrine followed by calling 911.

i have numerous faint red dots, not itchy, on my arm that have suddenly appeared over night. are these insect bites or allergies? also, can parasites cause these?

Give it a week: They are unlikely from allergies in the absence of itching. However viral infection is often associated with a rash (think German measles etc) and I suspect that's what you may have.  If the rash persists for over 10 days without improvement, see your doctor.

Yes: Or could be more severe deer fly bites! Take antihistamine and topical steroid cream, hydrocotisone, if fever develops or they don't improve soon see a MD,use inscect repellant

See MD: Please see your MD. Infection versus reaction. You may need steroids/Benadryl and or antibiotics. You definitely need a full history and physical to ensure your safety.

This type of immune system is often associated with allergies to environmental substances such as pollen, dander, dust mites, etc., or foods. The underlying theme in either case is a very strong immune system that "overreacts" to these triggers.
