: You should be at low risk for having an allergic reaction to amoxicillin. There may be an increased risk of allergy to amoxicillin with a history of penicillin allergy due to chemical similarities. People with seasonal allergies and asthma might have a slightly increased risk of allergy in general, but anaphylaxis would be very unlikely

Hard to say: Amoxicillin not uncommonly causes a rash but in your case it is possible that  a rash will soon follow.  Even though you had been able to tolerate this drug, you may become sensitized or allergic to a drug at any time.  Contact your doctor re. an alternate antibiotic if your itching is not resolving or getting worse.

Correct: Some trainees, lower level providers &amp; some docs do this as personal insurance. They don't want to miss something that may come up in a day or two &amp; have a mad patient complain to their clinic boss that they missed something. It happens less when you see the same provider over time &amp; establish a trust that they will only treat what is found. Take it or not, it is confusing but might be needed.
