Elemental formula: Alimentum is a baby formula made up basic nutritional fats & sugars with proteins that have been broken down into aminoacids. This approach allows the formula to be given to kids with cow or soy allergy which are the proteins used  for most baby formulas.

Variable: Alimentum is a hypoallergenic formula that is highly effective to support growth and nutrition in children with hypersensitivities.  Response to any particular formula can be widely variable, and recommendations are individualized by your child's doctor.

Maybe: The use of alumentus suggests there is concern for possible intolerance to some of the protein sources in the earlier feeds. Rice cereal will have a foreign protein source and may be a problem. The amount is somewhat arbitrary.When using cereal many add a teaspoon/4 oz.You could get a similar effect by adding some alumentum powder (same amount) and not have a new protein.The idea is to thicken fds.

Maybe, maybe not: One of the prime triggers to eczema are food allergies, which is why the doc would try nutramagen.This would be a way to avoid cow milk solids that might be detectable in your milk.Cow milk is one of the most common food allergies of childhood.Similac advance has cow milk as its basic protein source. I wouldn't.Best talk with your doc.

my baby is 3 months old and she is on  similac alimentum. recently her poops have been absorbed in her diaper. there is no actual solid material. it doesnt seem like diarrhea cuz there is no mucus and its not super watery. is she ok?

Probably normal: This is probably normal. In some infants, their complete use of the nutrients in the feedings leaves very little or no waste products. Watch for blood, watery consistency and mucus. At your 4m appointment mention it to your Dr so they can check.

baby refuses to drink neocate infant formula,dhould i try similac alimentum.is it advisable to do so?started baby on neocate as per pediatritian advice as he has high allergy(421) & eczema.baby is 1yr2month or should i try neocate junior instead?

: Continue the formula as advised by your Pediatrician. If flavoring may be added, this may result in better intake. Allergy testing may provide additional information and may be ordered by your PCP.

See below: Alimentum, neocate and pregestimil are known as elemental formulas-indicated for milk protein allergies.  Other than breast, they are the mainstream choices.  They are expensive and taste is usually hands down terrible. Try to pump and save your breast milk. If in short supply, you may mix the formula w/breast milk to allow gradual adaptation to the formula.

Thicken feed: Rice cereal may be added to the feeding to thicken the feed. This will help to reduce reflux.  Slower feedings and burping the baby mid and after the feeding may be helpful. Avoid over feeding and hold the baby at an angle of 30-45 degrees.
