No : And if your doctor didn't ask you about how much you drink, or you didn't offer that you do drink, let me then be the first to tell you - no.  When someone with gastritis asks me if they can drink, i can safely assume that the gastritis is either being caused by, or contributed to, by excessive drinking.  I strongly suggest you discuss your drinking in depth with your doctor or a therapist.

Should not take : First of all if you have gastritis you should not be drinking alcohol as alcohol can cause and worsen gastritis. Second alcohol and vicodin should not be mixed.

The prefix "gastro" means "stomach."  the term "gastritis" thus means an "inflammed stomach."    the term is often used imprecisely to mean stomach upset, which can derive from both acid & non-acid causes, slow emptying of the stomach, h.Pylori infection, atrophic & hypersecretory problems.  Try acid blockers & diet modification, recommended by your doctor.

Various causes : Gastritis usually develops when your stomach's protective layer becomes weakened or damaged. Gastritis can occur suddenly or develop over weeks and months:
causes include bacterial infection with h. Pylori, excessive use of nsaids (motrim, alleve), long term alcohol use, excess bile secretion/reflux, and other chronic conditions (chron's disease, autoimmune conditions, hiv). May need md eval.

Many reasons: Gastritis is inflammation of the stomach lining.  The only true common reason is infection with h pylori and rarely autoimmune gastritis.  Majority of what doctors call gastritis is actually irritation of mucosa for example from medications like aleve, (naproxen) Ibuprofen etc. And also alcohol, smoking etc.

Healthy diet: I recommend a healthy diet and avoid alcohol , spicy foods, and medication that can irritate the stomach.
