Absolutely NO!!: I hope this is not something you were thinking of trying on your own to someone you know who has a problem with seizures-- don't ever try to administer alcohol to someone who is having a true seizure--if someone is having a seizure, call 911 and let professionals treat them.

Not reliably: If the seizure is for sure due to alcohol withdrawal, this may be possible -- but the amount needed may kill the person first.  I&#x27;m sure you&#x27;ve heard of death from alcohol poisoning.  There are many other possible causes for seizures, and alcohol-induced coma is not the way to treat those either.

As long as needed: The coma used in medical situations is due to risk of injury while fighting a ventilator, or supporting a dire condition.  
When the medical situation is stable, sedation is reversed.  
It is a preventive treatment to improve outcomes, but has risks in managing nutrition and loss of strength for the duration of bed rest. Ask questions of the doctors and nurses and maintain hope.

If the patient had coma persisting after the induced coma were stopped, it would be from the initial injury.

Trauma: Deep sedation (medically induced coma) can be used to treat continuous epileptic seizures, or severe traumatic brain injury.  The brain injury could be due to spontaneous bleeding in the brain.  The idea is to reduce the brain's need for oxygen or eliminate abnormal brain activity.
