Yes: You do replace blood lost with menstrual periods.  When you loose blood, you loose iron.  Like your kitchen pantry, when you keep taking things out, your pantry becomes empty.  Therefore, you need to replace the lost iron with diet and iron supplements.  You should discuss this with your physician.

Yes: Anemia can be treated with iron supplementation. The key though is to fix the underlying cause. Discuss treatment options for heavy periods with your obgyn. If you still want children then birth control pills can lighten the cycle.. If you are done with pregnancies you may be a candidate for an in office endometrial ablation to lighten or stop your cycles.

Yes: Most women who are menstruating lean toward iron deficiency. Any Iron supplement should suffice. If combined with Vitamin C, iron absorption is about 90%. Without Vitamin C, iron absorption can be as low as 10%. Vitamin C also help avoid constipation, a frequent complaint from women on iron supplements.

Burst clot?: May be a huge clot from excessive menstrual blood; however, I suggest a full GYN exam and if sexually active, a pregnancy test and hormonal ( including thyroid)  testing. Please explained exactly what you mean by burst clot.
