If prescribed for pt: If this med was specifically prescribed for your child you should not exceed the directions given with the prescription.  There are not specific formally approved use in pediatric age group though it may be used.  In adults it can be used a maximum of 4 times per day.  If your child is having breathing difficulties and you feel he needs treatment more frequently than every 6 hrs, contact his doc.

Onset/drug action: The medications are distinct and have different onset of action.
I would recommend taking the Albuterol for rapid treatment and the combination may be discussed with 6our physician.

Breathing Problems: Your son obviously has breathing problems but your medication description is very confusing. He obviously needs to be seen by an asthma or pulmonary specialist. But the first thing is to make sure you are using the medications currently prescribed for you correctly. Many patients are confused by which med to use when. See your primary doctor or call them immediately if u r unsure of his meds.

Mutually complement: Good morning,                           airway spasm in asthma results from net reduction in adrenergic (dilating) effect, or increase in bronchospastic (vagal) force. Albutrol promotes dilating force , while atrovent (ipratropium) blocks the constricting force - thus complementing the net beneficial effect on bronchial tubes. In asthma the symptoms are caused by decreased diameter of bronchial tubes.

Low Oxygen: Still not getting adequate oxygenation.  The reasons can be many, it would also depend on your age, other underlying medical problems and issues.   Anything less than 92% should generally be evaluated further.

Short acting: Both drugs are short acting bronchodilators; albuterol is called a sympathomimetic drug because it affects beta receptors that line airways and cause bronchodilation.  Ipratroprium is called an anticholinergic and affects muscarinic receptors that line the airways causing decreased muscle tone/constriction.  Both are used in copd, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis.

ALBUTEROL/IPRATROPIU: They both cause bronchodilatation, and are often used as a combination(combivent, )used in COPD when there is bronchospasm
albuterol belongs to beta2agonist type and ipratropium blocks the affect of acytylcholine in airways and nasal passages.

No: I would not do it, just because you don't know how you're going to react to it. Although, there are commercial preparations of longer acting albuterol (salmeterol, formoterol), mixed in with a steroid (budesonide), there is no such formulation that would include short acting albuterol.
