Possibly: The expiration date reflects more the assured strenght of the medication than any toxic change in its action. Short term use until you resupply is probably fine.

Meds: Use either your ventolin or your nebulized albuteral. They are similar drugs. The Prednisone can be continued. All the best.

Either one: When the inhaler is used properly with good technique, it can provide as much bronchodilation as a nebulizer dose.   For those patients with poor coordination, the elderly or very young, the nebulizer may be easier to use.

The same: Many studies have been done comparing the two - almost all have shown equal efficacy but only when using a spacer for the inhaler - for people with bad lung disease or who can't coordinate a breath i either recommend a neb or a spacer.

No: You should not do this without express direction from your doctor.These medicines have side effects that are potentially dangerous in overdoses.Can increase heart work, raise blood pressure for example.

For severe asthma: every 3-4 hours. For mild to moderate asthma- every 4-6 hours. Consult your private physician for medication to prevent attacks.

MDIs spacer: An inhaler with a spacer device is an effective and efficient way to deliver aerosolized asthma medications.
The nebulizer may be used, but sometimes the medication delivery can be sub optimal.

my husband has been treated twice for pneumonia with a z-pack & medrol dose pack, inhaler & albuterol for the nebulizer which hes been using regularly but though he feels better his wheezing is terrible & now has started coughing & cant sleep!!?

Wheezing : It sounds like his bronchial tubes are inflamed. He should see a lung specialist. Because of the lack of details, I am not sure is he needs urgent care now.
