can someone please clarify if this coronavirus is airborne or droplet spread. if it is aerolized for 3 hours, why is it not considered airborne? just semantics?

Not known yet: Aerosolized (air borne) viruses are transported in droplets smaller than 5 micrometers. Droplet spread viruses are transported in droplets greater than 5 micrometers. There is not currently sufficient evidence to know if coronavirus is an airborne virus, research is ongoing. Safety precautions such as masks and cleaning surfaces help to diminish risk. Remember that most cases are asymptomatic.

need flu shot but had to wait due to illness. will breathing through my scarf protect me from airborn droplets @the drs?  also heard putting ointment in nostrils can help?

See answer : A scarf or face mask will provide some protection, but it is not clear how much. Unlikely to block the penetration of small virus particles but likely helpful in reducing contact or viral load from coughing and sneezing-related sprays and splashes. Most effective prevention is minimizing contact with others, frequent hand-washing and avoiding touching your face, nose, eyes with hands and fingers.

Can be: This virus, like most that infect the upper respiratory tract can be carried on micro-particles exhaled from the lungs with each breath. These are generally pushed out 2-3 feet normally but a cough can cast them 20 feet. They can linger in the air but are dispersed by the airflow/wind. This is why masks can reduce spread.

Sort of: The airborne transmission you are thinking of is if a pregnant woman changes the litter for an infected cat; the close proximity to the infected litter dust could lead to transmission.  By far, the most likely transmission is from consumption of undercooked meat.

glutamine &amp; lysine .  This company has been sued for  false advertising /claims that it's prodcts can prevent
the flu, common cold and other infections.

Ebola: Ebola can be passed via blood, saliva, vomit, feces, urine, sweat, tears, mucus, semen and breast milk.  It is not an airborne pathogen.

Depends: Radiation refers to particles like electrons going through space being emanated from a radioactive source. So, in that sense that are through the air, but it is unlike viruses transmitting through the air when someone coughs or sneezes. We are subject to radiation from space all the time and then from earthbound sources.

is it okay to take nyquil after taking an airborne? in total took them an hour apart.

Accepted Answer

Use caution: While it is likely to be safe to take the Nyquil in this case use caution when mixing over the counter meds. Airborne contains vitamins, amino acids and zinc. This will not interact with nyquil. Be cautious to make sure both otc meds do not both have acetominophen.
