Yes, : Yes, exercise intolerance can be a symptom of air trapping.  Some of these changes can be reversible if you can stop smoking, and with inhalers which you are probably already on.  If you have increased shortness of breath please be medically evaluated.  Also be sure you discuss treatment options with your pulmonologist.

Inflammation of the tiny airways leading to the alveoli get clogged or narrowed, which traps the air inside the alveoli.  This is usually reversible by decreasing the inflammation in the bronchioles with steroids, anti-inflammatories, and bronchodilators.

Variable Times: Improvement in asthma control following administration of Advair diskus (salmeterol and fluticasone) can occur within 30 minutes, although maximum benefit may not be achieved for 1 week or longer after starting treatment. Of course each individual will experience a variable time to onset and degree of symptom relief. If your asthma is more severe this medication alone might not provide adequate relief. Talk to your doctor

: Your symptoms could be due to gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). You should get some treatment for GERD by either your primary care physician or a GI doctor and see if this improves your symptoms. Reflux can definitely cause the symptoms you are describing so see your doctor and get treatment. Good luck to you!

Air trapping: Air can get trapped in part of lung by obstruction to airway or bronchus. The obstruction usually acts as ball valve allowing air in but not out. The obstruction can be plug of mucus in asthma and cystic fibrosis, a foreign body  such as peanut in airway, or aspiration of food when drunk or neurologically challenged. Some people with emphsema the air cells themselves are not able to empty (copd).

ct chest no contrast says hyperinflation. dr says ct was normal & long torso is the reason lungs look big. would air trapping & bullous show up in ct?

Yes: Air trapping and bullae can be seen on the ct scan. Pfts can also detect air trapping with the special test where they place you in a box and make you breathe through the mouth piece.

my chest x-ray shows hyperinflated lungs. can anxiety cause air trapping from poor breathing?

NO: Air trappin is generally due to air OBSTRUCTION in the smaller lung (bronchial) tubes. S guess a VERY DEEP Breath ...held while the xray is taken could give an appearance of hyperinflation but Radiologist know the difference!!! BTW anxiety generally is associated with rapid shallow breathing...Hope this helps!
