Pap smear?: Are you referring to a Pap smear result of AGUS- "atypical glandular cells of undetermined significance"? If so, this is a cytologic description/category of Pap smear results. Basically the pathologist is saying there are some glandular cells that don't look " quite right". You should see your gynecologist who will most likely perform an exam called a colposcopy- basically looking at your cervix

Requires evaluation: Newer term is agc, atypical glandular cells. It means that the cervix and uterus (endometrium or lining of the uterus) require further evaluation by a gynecologist who will further test the cells to look for cancer. Follow up is important because caught early, this can be treated. Ignored, it can lead to cancer. Definitely don't panic, but be sure to follow up for additional tests without delay.

Not to worry: ASCUS is a non-specific finding and may disappear. Do follow your doctor's advise for repeat tests.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Many things: ...Can cause atypical glandular cells on a pap smear, several relating to age fertility, menstrual cycle, etc.  This is the us in the agus (undetermined significance).  The pap smear is simply a screen, and this finding will lead to more definitive testing (either re-screen or colposcopy with biopsy).

: BV does not cause these pap abnormalities. Probably HPV is the cause. Most cases are not serious and do not progress to cervical cancer. Discuss with your doctor.

The biopsy results will determine whether there's anything in the endocervix that needs to be treated -- chances of a lesion requiring hysterectomy producing only "agus" are low. Be sure to maintain your thyroid medication through your pregnancy.

Pill use: if you had amenorrhea (no period or delayed period) and you were placed on birth control, you may continue to not have a period.  One of the possible side effects of the pill is decreased or no menses.  Its not harmful if you're on the pill.

i've had a slighty abnormal papsmear within the last year that came back with agus. the doctor preformed a colposcopy that came back negative. i've had vaginal discharge that has been treated for years assuming it is bv. could this be cancer?

Yes: AGUS (Atypical Glandular cells of Undetermined Significance) pap-smears must be taken seriously.  Some women with AGUS have cancer or pre-cancer in the cervix, uterus or even fallopian tube.  A thorough work-up is needed.  Usually this includes an endometrial biopsy, ultrasound and a Colposcopy that includes an endocervical curretage.  AGUS must be evaluated carefully.
