Yes: That sounds pretty abnormal for a 21 year old.  I would see a physician for evaluation.

Bad causes? could be lockjaw which is fatal. So i would discuss with your Dr. in AM or go to ER. Good causes: you are cold and shivering. If so warm up.

Hyperthyroid ?: You might be over-treated with levothyroxine. Check  your thyroid function test and adjust the dose of levothyroxine.

Nerve impingement: can be caused by being sandwiched between two spinal bones, pressed by a bulging disc. It can cause muscle spasm and back pain. This condition must be professionally managed. See interventional pain management specialist for definitive diagnosis and management.

Difficult diagnosis: If it involves numbness, I would recommend getting an EMG test to see if there is a nerve involved.  It could be a focal seizure, and seeing a doctor could help tease that out.  They might order an EEG.  Another possibility is an atypical migraine.  Multiple sclerosis is another possibility.  The shoulder should be looked at as a source of the pain as well.

Theoretically: A nerve injury in the neck, of the brachial plexus, or of the pectoral nerves extending from the plexus could cause loss of function or muscle mass, but this would be pretty rare.

Trapezius muscle: The trapezius (connects the neck and mid back to the shoulder blade) is the most common muscle to develop 'trigger points'. Usually associated with poor sleep, stress, poor posture or long periods of sitting, insufficient stretching/exercise.  A 'pinched nerve' root will cause pain down the arm and is not a typical cause of neck or shoulder blade pain.

can a torn muscle in neck and back be diagnosed and repaired if injury occurred several months ago? how are torn nerves diagnosed and treated?

Exam, X-ray, MRI: A good exam, x-rays, and if indicated an MRI should be able to tell you the source of your pain.  If you have already healed from your injury, your studies may all be normal.
