i quit smoking three days ago. i put cigarette smoking as i was quite heavily exposed to it yesterday due to some friends. the phlegm is actually only blocking up my throat. and there seems to be a tickling sensation in my airway? help?

Cough from quitting?: When you first quit smoking, the clearance mechanism of the lungs and bronchi (the mucociliary elevator) starts working again, and this could cause a strong productive cough for as many as two weeks straight.  So assuming you’re not actually sick, this could be the answer.  Given your “weak immune system”, you may want to have a doctor see you to make sure you’re not actually infected.

i use an e cig regularly. the past few mornings, i have spat up pink phlegm, and just now i spat up phlegm with some blood in it. should i worry?

Bloody sputum: It sounds like you should see your doctor.  Sometimes what seems to be blood from your chest could actually be blood from your nose, but I wouldn't take a chance.  I think you should schedule an appointment.

No: the only area where electronic cigarettes may be somewhat safer is in it the reduced amount of "tars" - complex hydrocarbons produced by burning of the tobacco- found in them. However, they still have many irritants, and many of them (like propylene glycol, used as the propellant) have unknown effects when volatilized, which is true also of the flavorings, colorings, preservatives etc in them.

why does my upper chest or bronchs vibrate when exhaling hard? there's no phlegm/mucus/cough. quit smoking pot recently but never smoked cigs. normal?

Impossible to say: You need a physical examination of your chest, and may need additional tests, such as a chest x-ray, to really give an answer.  Often, some obstruction in the upper airway, like a polyp or an aspirated foreign body, can cause such sounds, but usually there will be cough, sputum, mucus etc. You need to be examined if it is bothering or worrying you.

Phlegm: First: congratulation on quitting smoking! now, a decrease in mucus production could be related to the overall improved environment in your lungs now that they don't have to cope with the stress of smoking. None the less, former smokers should pay close attention to their respiratory tracts and report any real changes to their primary doctor in addition to getting routine exams. Good luck!

Mucolytic: Ask your friendly pharmacist for a mucolytic agent to help you clear this material.  It takes time for the lining of the tubes leading into your lungs to recover from the damage done by cigarettes.  Congratulations on stopping.  Be patient.  You will smell and taste things better, smell better to non-smokers and feel better over all.  Good work.  Be proud of yourself.  Not easy to do.

Not smoking: COPD is part of the damage provoked by smoking. It is treatable and compatible with described, in a sense. But other possibilities exist too. Acute bacterial or viral conditions, even more serious neoplastic diseases can be ruled out. Sputum samples, cxr, PPD might help clarify the status. Sometimes sinusitis is the origin. Your dr will help you, just keep appointments and don t smoke. Best of luck.

Blachish phlegm: Phlegm is a result of airway inflamation, which can be of variable color. It is also important to pay attention to the volume, consistancy, timing and associated symptoms such as wheezing and shortness of breath.In general, darker is assocaited with more inflamatory responce that usually lightens up as the condition improves, with the improvement of the other symptoms noted above.In conclusion yes.
