i just had my cast taken off my broken ankle and i'm supposed to walk on it but i can't. should i use crutches or can i hop?

Crutches: Use crutches, but make sure you are actually trying to walk normal.  When pain reduces, move to one crutch.  Use on the opposite side from the fracture.  Eventually, you should be able to completely discontinue the crutches.  You must let your foot feel the ground each step though.

i feel burning type of pain in my right knee for last few months i don't feel pain during walk but whenever i use stairs i feel pain.my age is 28years?

Not normal : Best to have an Otho eval. Maybe something simple like antiinflmatory meds and a few exercises is all it will take to make it better!

Its supposed to be s: When you are placed in a walking cast, the plan is to keep your ankle and foot from moving so that damaged tissue in the area, either operative or traumatic, can heal.  This in turns makes your knees and hips move more or in a range you are not used to.  Wearing a shoe on the other foot of similar height may help reduce your problem, but it is not supposed to feel normal!

ASK YOU RDOCTOR: Different injuries require different periods of immobilization and nonweight bearing. Generally, after 6-8 weeks of protection for a leg fracture you can begin weightbearing ina walking boot. It will take several weeks to regain normal gait patterns. You must ask your doctor.

my orthopaedic dr made me wait seven weeks befoe he would schedule an mri.i walked on a fractured leg.is it right to walk on it w/o cast?

Stress Fracture?: Sounds like you may have had a stress fracture of your lower leg.  These do take time to develop and are difficult to diagnose.  The main treatment is usually "protected weightbearing".  Hopefully your current treatment will allow for full healing.

Not really.: Why did you have a fracture? I like my patients to go into a flat or 4mm drop shoe for stability. The foot usually is fairly soft too.

Return to doc: If the symptoms of an ankle sprain are not slowing improving as expected, it is usually worth re-visiting the orthopedic specialist to make sure other pathology does not exist.

Weak: if you've been in a cast for 6 weeks your ankle is weak. likely the fracture has healed so the bone can support your weight. work on motion and strengthening. you might need some light external support during this process

Bones take 6-8 weeks: Bones typically take 6-8 week to heal from a fracture.  Depending on the type of break she had and where on the metatarsal she broke the bone will determine the length of time immobilization is needed as well as when she can begin to walk on it.  You need to ask the doctor that applied to cast for specifics regarding her case.

Go to ED: Go to the emergency room or urgent care for an x-ray. I sprain you can't "walk off" is suspicious for a fracture.
