i had a couple of beers for the first time in 5-6 months. (normally i drink liquor) the first beer went down fine but 2-3 sips into the second beer i developed chest pain and a ton of heavy thick phlegm. could this have been an allergic reaction?

Chest pain: This reaction had more of the characteristics of a spasm of the esophagus than an allergic reaction. If the chest distress subsided after some minutes without wheezing it would also point toward an esophageal spasm. In other words,I would expect a true allergic reaction to last longer. However I can understand your concern especially if you've never experienced an esophageal spasm in the past.

didnt drink beer for one day and now my chest is hurting. what should i do? id like to stop drinking.

Beer/alcohol : Won't treat your hurting chest, may rather make it worse. If you are serious about stopping drinking, you can join an AA program nearby or any other facility that can offer help, they are around. You can stop on your own if you wish/can. As for the hurting chest , if really bothersome, you want to see your doctor, otherwise OTC antacid/PPI can help,read the labels carefully, drink plenty of water

hi doctor, when i drink beer or alcohol i become red . my facial area and upper chest of body become red compare to other body parts. looks like allergy. after few moments it will vanish automatically. what is this and is it harmful for me?

: What you are describing is the same reaction as a common blush. Capillaries near the skin dilate and blood flow to those areas gives the color change. By itself it is more a distraction than a problem.

If chest pain occurs: very quickly, would be c/w esophagus issues/esophageal spasms as part of your response to what you are swallowing. This can occur with anything. Coordination of esophageal muscles (like rest of body) to achieve the peristaltic swallowing response is complex &amp; coordinated by mind/brain. Internalized past history, no matter how seemingly hidden, always plays a role. Yet, Hx offered was very limited.

Irritation: If your pain is related to food intake then your chest pain most likely related to a gastrointestinal cause like ulceration or irritation of the food pipe or stomach, you should get it check out since this can lead to bleeding ulcers. See your primary care or a GI doctor.

Could be: Alcohol withdrawal symptoms are usually not upper body aches, but the stress of withdrawal could lead to chest pain.  If you feel very sick from withdrawing from drinking get help.

Both are OK: It is a personal preference.Since you are getting chest pain after drinking warm water,i suggest you try water at room temperature or cold and see if that makes your pain better.Otherwise consult your GP
