Depends: This is usually not an issue of healing but of getting the right destruction of the right area of the heart.  Healing will most likely be completed in a matter of a week but it is not a healing issue.  Discuss with your cardiologist/electophysiologist and have a complete understanding prior to the procedure unless done emergently.  Monitoring may be in order for a while after the procedure.

Yes: Catheter ablations for cardiac arrhythmias are now well-established procedures.   The specifics in terms of likelihood for success and/or complications depends on the exact nature of the dysrhythmia.   You should see a heart rhythm specialist called an electro physiologist for more information.

Yes: For the first 1-2 weeks following a catheter ablation, palpitations or a sense that the heart is beating irregularly, is common and are likely secondary to irritation of the heart from the ablation procedure. These symptoms are typically very brief. Symptoms of longer duration may represent recurrence of the arrhythmia for which the ablation was undertaken.

EP Doc: Anxiety adds stress. Related to cathecolamine levels being  elevated which then give a vicious cycle predisposing you to arrythmia.

WPW is usually dealt with efficiently. I dont think you should be worrying about it. Talk to your EP Doc.

There are different ways of dealing with anxiety and stress. From Meditation, to beta blockers, to SSRIs.

168: Maximum heart rate depends on age using the formula 220-age=maximum heart rate. In your case 100% of maximum predicted heart rate is 168. I recommend 85% of this number which is about 143 bpm.  It should not go above 168.

Ep: Definitely see your electrophsiologist, or at least your PCP to get an ECG, and if unremarkable, wear a heart monitor.  You may need some adjustment in your medications, or less likely, a pacemaker if the ablation cause some damage to your conduction system.

i had catheter ablation last year for svt avnrt. now i am 9weeks pregnant and have irregular heartbeats again.my heart pauses for 10 sec before the next beat. i can't breath. is it svt? what do i do?

after having catheter ablation on my heart for wpw/svt my doctor told me not to drink caffeine for one year... it has been more than one year now since then so is it safe for me to drink caffeine?

: You would need to ask your cardiologist who did the ablation procedure if it is now safe to have caffeine. Your cardiologist knows your heart the best and can tell you what the risks are if you add caffeine to your diet. You may need an EKG or Holter monitor to see if you are having any residual arrhythmias. So, give your cardiologist a call! Good luck!!

Ablation: While gross healing is within a week or so, it usually takes six weeks or more for rhythm to settle down.
