Desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) is ok.: If it's due to irritation, then Desitin (zinc oxide diaper cream) or even just plain vaseline should resolve your problem in a 2-3 days.  If it's due to an infection, it will not improve, the pain will worsen, and you will need to see a doctor.

Thyroid: Thinning hair and intolerance to cold are two signs of hypothyroidism.  Numbness in the leg, and rashes, are not commonly associated with thyroid disorders so be sure to get checked out by a doc.
