Yes: you can have conductive deafness not nerve deafness on that side, if that is the only pathology

Clear fluid unseen: Middle ear fluid can sometimes be clear, like water and is difficult to see with an otoscope behind the ear drum.  Using an instrument called a tympanogram can show fluid behind the ear much more accurately.  A tympanogram creates a tone and measures the movement of the ear drum with the tone and it comes out on a graph,  if there is fluid the graph is flat, not the normal hill shape.

you can have itching in the ear canal due to 
1 allergies
2 too much or not enough ear wax
3fungal infections more common in swimmers
4skin conditions like eczema, seborrhic dermatitis;psoriasis
5 buggs sometimes bugs can enter the ear canal at night
never try to insert anything in ears to scratch.See md.

Nasal spray: This is most likely from obstruction of the eustachean tubes and most noticeable during descent.  You may consider using an afrin nasal spray before flying or before descent and see if this helps. Afrin should not be used for more than 5 days in a row.

Ear fluid/flying: Ear fluid often persists for months. Make sure you have been well treated and that you use Valsalva manoeuvres with changes in elevation. If it is severe you may need a drainage tube. All the best.

The: Dizziness may occur in patients with or without fluid in their middle ear.

Accepted Answer

It depends: Fluid can collect in the middle year, most often due to infection or trauma. If it is infection it will cause you to have severe pain inside your ear. If there is no pain then it is not likely to be infection(infection can be serious as it can lead to meningitis which can be fatal). But this is only a consideration if you have fever and severe ear pain.
