is it ok to take strattera (atomoxetine) and celexa together? i'm on celexa and my shrink just added strattera (atomoxetine) for adhd. on google it says they interact..help!

Avoid if possible: Both strattera (atomoxetine) and Celexa work on similar part of the brain. As a result strattera (atomoxetine) can raise levels of serotonin. Now if you add Celexa - which selectively raises serotonin - you can have a serious problem. Serotonin syndrome is a serious side effect of this combo. Don't forget that because of this strattera (atomoxetine) is the only adhd medication to have suicide as a warning. (all antidepressants have it).

You must decide: "Worth" is always an opinion that only yours matters for. But you can get help in thinking about it in some talk therapy. The extra value is that whatever you decide, it will optimize the outcome. Research shows that. Each SSRI (etc) seems unique for each user, but they all have risks. Talk it through till you make a choice you can own based on good judgement.

It can happen: Weight gain is a possible side effect with celexa.   You might talk to your physician about the possibility of changing from Celexa to it's sister drug- lexapro (escitalopram). It may be more weight neutral for you. But, the only way to get the extra weight off is the good old fashioned way: exercise and ensuring that calories burned exceeds caloric intake. Good luck.
