Allergic reaction: Your swollen face is probably an allergic reaction to acyclovir.  I wouldn't try taking another dose.   However, your only other 2 options are valacyclovir (valtrex) and Famciclovir (famvir), both of which are more costly, and you may be allergic to all of the anti-viral meds of this type.  You might try using a medication discount card but these meds may or may not be discounted.

why am i having bumps on my cheeks and gum feels swollen when checked by tongue?please advice.was diagnosed with hsv1 and finished acyclovir dosage.

It is most likely..: ..these bumps/swollen gums are residual effects of the original HSV infection. While acyclovir can lessen the symptoms of HSV, it typically will not cure it or eliminate it. Adverse side effects of acyclovir are commonly nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or headache. Finish the prescribed course of acyclovir. Continue supportive care: acetominophen/ibuprofen, fluids, aloe vera gel. You remain  infectious

im 24wks preg, finished a zovirax (acyclovir) dose 3days ago, today the infection is back, a swollen tongue with white spots.shall i start zovirax (acyclovir) again?how long?

Maybe not herpes: This doesn't sound like herpes, which may be why the zovirax (acyclovir) didn't work. You should see your doctor. Herpes can be diagnosed with a viral culture.

my 2 year old daughter has swollen gums, fever and bad breath for the last 4 days. we are travelling and we found a pediatrician who prescribed acyclovir sandoz. should we give it?

Virus or yeast: Either she has oral thrush which is simply a yeast infection , or likely with  presence of a fever it is most likely be an oral primary herpetic gingivostomatitis (oral herpes virus).  This is very common. .  Often it is subclinical. It should run its course in a few days.  An oral thrush is treated with topical nystatin.  Whereas the oral herpes can be aided by the aciclovir if is  given early.

i was on flagyl for bv for a week and also taking acyclovir at the same time. on the 5th day on flagyl i developed a white tongue. it has been a week and still there. also have swollen lymph nodes, earache & chest pain. hiv test was done and negative?

More investigation: The white tongue is nonspecific. However the other symptoms require more evaluation. Chest pain,ear pain, swollen glands need elucidation, testing and potential treatments. It may be best to consult an internist or specialist in infectious diseases.

while in germany i went to a urologist who diagnosed me with genital herpes on the penis glands (head). i was prescribed aciclovir cream which i read shouldnt be used on glands? is this true? as i am not seeing any improvement either.

Oral Acyclovir !: Genital HSV 2 infection is best treated with oral Acyclovir 400 mg every 4 hours five times daily for 10 days to decrease viral shedding time and if treated within 48 hours of symptoms can sometimes abort the infection.
Oral Acyclovir is best used for HSV 1 mild lip infections , Oral is better for treatment of both HSV 1 and HSV 2 ( Oral and Genital)

Topical lip balms with anti-viral abilities can help, but not as much as the oral medications do. If a lip is looking worse instead of looking better, one can see her doctor for an antiviral prescription.

May be: It depends on the likely cause of swelling of the gland. If it is swollen due to infection then there is no need for biopsy. If it is suspected to be due to cancer then biopsy is essential. In between there are other possibilities.
