i have a very mild anterior wedge compression deformity of a midthoracic vertebral body. what are my options? could my chiropractor have caused this to happen?

: If asymptomatic then just observation and periodic followup. If symptoms pl see a ortho or neurosurgeon. Unless there was abnormally severe manipulation of the area causing acute pain- I doubt if it was caused by manipulation.

Osteoporosis: There are 2 definitions: Tscore less than -2.5 by DXA scan or osteoporotic fracture such as your mom sustained. Bed rest is a bad idea as it leads to muscular atrophy &amp; functional debility. Interventional radiologists, orthopedists &amp; neurosurgeons can perform kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty to manage pain &amp; prevent worsening compression. Nasal calcitonin has also been used to reduced pain.

i did have a repeat spot compression mammo and ultrasound it is benign have to wait 6 months why?

Need observation: Because does not have  enough indication for a biopsy , some times will show very small area of abnormal tissue , may be  in one view only , if otherwise normal radiologist will advise the surgeon to follow closely and  repeat on that side in 6 months instead of waiting for the usual  1 year follow up study.

Compression fracture: A compression fracture is a collapse of a vertebral body - most often caused by trauma, osteoporosis or malignancy.

if a cervical canal is between 10mm and 13mm without actual compression of the cord, but reduced space. would this normally cause symptoms?

Accepted Answer

Typically, no.: If there is space around the cord, there should be room for the CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) to get by. If the nerve root is pinched, this could be problematic, however. Head or neck  Position changes could also be a problem for you. Discuss your symptoms  with your doc to get an accurate diagnosis of the problem.

Mild vertebral: compression fractures of T7 and T11, which occurred at some point in the past, probably remote.

whats the difference between cervical spinal cord anterior abutment and cervical spinal cord anterior compression? please thank you

Abutment: is "NEXT TO" , "touching", unlikely to cause harm..  Compression is "pressing on", very likely to cause symptoms although the time frame is not known.
