Acupuncture point: One of the points that is commonly used is the li4 point; which is on the large intestine principal meridian.  Your acupuncturist will be familiar with the location of this point. This should not be needled in pregnant women. There are other points used that can be reviewed with your acupuncturist.

Depends on cause: Treating a dry cough depends on the cause, all the while remembering that cough is a symptom not a disease. Dry cough can occur due to allergies, exposure to dust, fumes and chemicals, asthma, bronchospasm, viral URI and medications such as ace inhibitors. 
Avoid the irritant, treat the asthma and bronchospasm, switch the offending medicine and use antihistamines for allergy control.

Tips: Hydrate well.   Consider using a warm air vaporizer. Mix several teaspoons of honey into herbal tea  with a squeeze of lemon juice. See a physician if your cough is not resolving, difficulty breathing or temp &gt; 104.

Quit smoking if you are smoking. Your doctor can help w/this, too.

None work great: There is no great medicine for this.  Over the counter preparations may help but are mostly snake oil.   Honey and lemon tastes good and is benign and may help.  If you are a smoker stop. Inhalers may help if there is a reactive component to it.
