Bad idea: You will age your skin, invite skin cancer, and you are neglecting effective Rx. If topical benzoyl peroxide has not cleared you in two weeks, get with your physician.

A Tanning bed is : Never safe under any circumstance. If you are on Accutane or any medication that requires you to limit sun exposure then a tanning bed is a no no. Tanning bed = increased cancer risk!.

Tanning beds: are an unnecessary risk for skin cancer. Beyond that - it depends on which acne medication you are referring to.

Bad idea: Tanning beds aren't the best in the first place; they'll age your skin and put you at risk for cancer down the road. If you're on a tetracycline it's likely to be a photosensitizer, and if you're on Isotretinoin it's an even worse idea. Please find something else you enjoy and do it instead.

i have a vp shunt placed in the left side of my head. can i go to the tanning bed with this in? i like going, it helps keeps my skin clear of  acne.

Should be Ok: You should be able to tan but i would do it in moderation because of the risks associated with excessive tanning.  The vp shunt should be fine.

Worsen: Sun exposure will increase pigmentation in the skin.

Tanning and Acne: Tanning can reduce your acne for a short time because the uv ray exposure causes dry skin, which may reduce the oil that causes acne. However, after you tan, your body will compensate by producing too much oil, which causes even more acne outbreaks.
Tanning may temporarily camouflage your acne by hiding the redness. However, the tanning only hides your acne for a short period of time.

i'm looking to go tanning but am on an antibiotic called minocycline for acne what will it do to my skin if i deside to go?

Severe sun burn: Minocycline causes photosensitivity.  Sunscreen should be worn when you are exposed to the sun and on this drug.  A tanning booth could cause a severe sun burn. As an aside tanning booths may make you think you look better but will cause you to have lots of skin wrinkles and skin cancer as you age.  It's not worth it.

I : I would see a dermatologist b/c it is difficult to tell without a clinical examination, but perhaps you have rosacea?  Read more about rosacea and treatment options at the link below.  I hope that helps a little!
