See your doctor...: Have you discussed this issue you have had for years with your doctor?  Without being able to see the rash/area that you are talking about it it impossible to hazard a guess as to the cause.  Make an appointment with someone who can see it and actually give you a true diagnosis.  Take care.

Use good sunscreen: Some meds used in acne especially the tetracycline antibiotic Minocycline and doxy make you sensitive to UV rays
Avoid excess and unnecessary exposure to the sun and always use a good broad spectrum either zinc or titanium based sunbock

Don't look for cause: Acne is unrelated to hygiene or lifestyle and only marginally to diet. Don't try to figure out the cause, but manage your illness until it self-cures with age. If topical benzoyl peroxide has not cleared you in 2 weeks, get with your personal physician who can add prescription-strength rx.

Unpredictable: Both may make for a flare, or a partial remission. Acne is a chaotic system and is unpredictable. If you're affected, please start managing it. Yes and no.: While the uv rays in sunlight can have a temporary beneficial effect on your acne, it is not worth the long-term detrimental effects that uv has on your skin, which lead to wrinkles and skin cancer eventually. Dermatologists have lots of effective treatments at their disposal which work better, last longer, and don't cause any long-term sequellae.
