Perhaps.: Some women can have burning with no pathology, but it would be wise to be checked for UTI and an ultra sound can be safely used to check for stones.

Bad to the "stone": The pain is the kidney stone getting stuck and unstuck like a ball valve at the narrow juncture of the ureter entry into the bladder. The infected urine is "backing up" into the kidney and requires continuous antibiotics until you can get to the Urologist who has ways to either retrieve surgically the stone through the bladder or breaking it up with lithotripsy- so no "romancing the stone" .

i take 3,000mg max of tums. not everyday but when i have acid reflux. am i taking too much? i want to keep my kidneys healthy im healthy

Hard to guess: For normal adults, the recommended daily dietary calcium intake is about 1200mg. People are recommended to take supplements if they don't eat enough dietary calcium or need extra for some other reason. People generally take daily supplements of 800-1200mg, with a maximum supplement of about 2000-2400mg. It is uncertain if taking oral calcium leads to kidney stones or not (more research needed).

: You're correct in that for past few years there have been concerns about kidney problems from chronic use of ppi meds like nexium, but pepcid is in another class of meds &amp; I haven't heard about an y problems with kidney diseases from its long-term use. Your pharmacist may have more information about this matter though.

i just started taking a ppi for acid reflux. i read an article last year that long term use of ppis can cause chronic kidney disease.  is this true?

You may be: right.  If your doctor prescribes long term PPI use for you, then you should take it as prescribed.   However, it is best to have your kidney function checked at least once or twice a year to make sure that you are not one of the very few people with this adverse effect. Maybe: You can't (shouldn't) avoid Amino Acids which are the building blocks to protein. Regardless of whether you're a omnivore or vegan, you still need protein and thus need to consume amino acids. Chronic Tonsillitis: Unlikely related to reflux. Tonsil stones(tonsoliths) are generally a sign of chronic infection. The fix is tonsillectomy.

NOT OKAY!!!: I don't think drinking soft drinks is ok for anyone! they have extremely high levels of sugar (esp. High fructose corn syrup) and if "diet" forms then have nutrasweet, which is even more toxic. Anyone who has any interest in being healthy should hardly ever drink this poison! and yes, the acidity worsens risk of kidney stones.
