Plantar fasciitis: Is the most common cause of heel pain, and the typical complaint is pain after rest: that first step in the morning is the killer, and then it eases up.  But there are other causes for such pain too.

I recommend you see a podiatrist and find out for certain what's behind your heel pain.  Feel better!

Plantar Fasciitis: It could be plantar fasciitis, which is inflammation of the tissue on the bottom of your foot (plantar fascia) this tissue connects the heal to the bones in the toes and creates the arch of the foot. Symptoms can include pain and stiffness in the heal especially painful during your first steps in the morning.  Another possibility would be a heal spur. There are good treatment options, see your dr.

Possible achilles : Tendonitis or calcific Achilles' tendon, possible haglund's deformity or spur to the back of thecalcaneus..

Heel pain: You may have a tight heel cord and this may cause pain when switching to flats.  See a physical therapist for stretching exercises or enroll in yoga classes to help stretch your calves and legs.  Hope this helps.

: You didn’t mention what was required to provide you with relief of plantar fasciitis. Obviously it helped but it did not take care of the problem completely. I would take the next step whether that be changing your shoes for more support or seeing a podiatrist and getting either over-the-counter supports or a custom-made orthotic. All of these are viable

Need an evaluation: You have had heel pain long enough and it needs to be addressed. Since summer break is coming up, time to take care of you. Seek a Podiatrist to get this going in the right direction.

Need more info: How was the plantar fasciitis ruled out? Was an MRI done? If yes then what were the results? Did you have any physical therapy, stretching regemine, night splints?

Injury to a nerve: If you are having numbness in this particular area it is most likely due to a nerve injury.  Now what is interesting is that you have pain in your heel.  Is the pain under the heel or in back of the heel?  If you are having pain under the inside of the heel and if this was present before the numbness, it may be a result of walking on the outside of your foot as to compensate for the pain.
