the muscles in the back of my leg have been sore lately. what is the cause?

Several possibilitie: It could be the result of recent activities and you have made the muscles sore from exercise (mountain climbing, stairs, etc.) or could be from medications that cause muscle soreness.  There could be a bruise from a direct blow.  You could possibly have a clot in the calf and this is serious.  There are other less common causes of leg muscle soreness.  If concerned see your pcp right away.

Many causes: if nothing changed in daily life- no new work outs, not pregnant- then often it is mineral shortage.  Get some calcium, potassium in a system.  Get multivitamins, eat a banana, drink milk, cheese.

Steroid effects: Steroids treat myositis with their anti-inflammatory effect. They can cause muscle pain due to their effect on electrolytes—sodium, potassium, magnesium. The leg pain may be due to electrolyte imbalance. See prescribing doc; you may need temporary potassium &/or magnesium supplement to calm leg muscles.

Check lab work: Patients with liver disease and ascites may have several reasons for muscle aches.  Protein synthesis is decreased in liver disease and muscle wasting is common.  Medications taken for ascites can cause electrolyte disturbances.  In addition, restricted diets may also cause salt imbalances.  Lastly other minerals (such as zinc and manganese) and vitamin metabolism may be altered.  Check your blood.

No: That is not a side effect of amlodipine. Doses &gt; 5 mg often cause swelling however. The usual way to rule out a side effect is: stop the drug; wait for the index symptom to resolve. Reintroduce the drug. If the side effect promptly returns, they may be related. Most likely you have leg pain of muscular or arthritic origin that coincidentally flared when you began the new medication.

left side of perineum is sore/tight attimes. could a tight muscle on left leg cause this? my hip seems slightly to twisted/uneven wasn't b4, imbalanc?
