Q: why are the whites of my eyes discolored in some areas, especially between eyelid? yellow spots not raised. not jaundiced - no bilirubin in urine.

Yellow conjunctiva: Hmmm. all of my eyes are between my eyeliner. Need good picture. Recommend you ask your Dr to look and tell about your concern. You can also google yellow spots on conjunctive and look at images to see if you can match up. But better to show to your Dr.

Q: don't want to waste my time on a low dose of accutane. should i ask my dermatologist to raise or from 60-80mgs?

Eventually : An initial one month period of low dose is sometimes done to make sure the medication does not cause any major side effects such as elevated lfts or high cholesterol. It can then be increased to a maximum of 1 mg/kg (60 mg-80 mg for most people) daily as tolerated. The higher dose allows the course to be completed more quickly.

Details are everythi: EXACTLY what are the levels of direct and indirect bilirubin??? What do the other tests show? SYMPTOMS??? Usual course of isotretinoin [Accutane] is FIVE [5] months. What dose do you take? See a Dr if there is abnormal liver function. Absolutely no alcohol. Stop Accutane until this is resolved. You are already past 5 months anyway.

Bilirubin: The change is concerning, but your total bilirubin levels are still within the normal range, as well as your liver function tests. Usually, your doctor will continue your accutane and recheck labwork in one month. Consider rechecking your labs again sooner, perhaps in 1-2 weeks, to monitor this potential problem. Accutane works great, but the side effects can be bad.

what percentage if people have mildly (not significant) raised ast and alt on accutane?

Not sure: But one study showed that there will be up to  11% o people who use Accutane will have abnormal AST and or ALT.

Don't treat labs: Dubin-johnson seldom causes trouble, and all labs fluctuate. I'd ignore the elevation if you feel healthy, look for another cause if you're sick. Occasionally a new medicine will kick up you folks' bilirubins. Glad you're taking a proactive approach to your health.

Abnormal liver test: Clearly there is a liver process going on. Would extend the valuation to autoimmune and metabolic causes of liver disease.

Yes: This is fairly common. They might also have been raised by the medications a person takes for the virus.  If checking baseline liver function, it is best to wait until the patient has recovered fully from a recent viral illness.
