Abnormal clls on PAP: This likely means that there are abnormal cells on your pap smear, and that colposcopy found nothing.  But you will need and hopefully got a cervical biopsy during your colposcopy, and another pap next year at the earliest if your biopsy was negative.  It is not normal, but it probably does not have enough evidence that there is neoplasia/pre-cancer.  Keep close follow-up with your dr. To be sure.

It depends.: A pap smear is a test used to screen for cervical cancer, where a doc takes a sample of cells from the cervix. There is a wide range of abnormal results. Some pap tests come back showing you have a virus called hpv which is extremely common in sexually active women. Pap smears can also show that the cells of the cervix themselves are abnormal, showing pre-cancerous or cancerous cells.

Yes and no: You can have a mildly abnormal pap smear (ascus) and it can still be hpv negative.  We generally treat this result the same as a normal pap smear.  Other abnormal pap smears are usually designated as hpv positive.  Most classifications of abnormal pap smears are the result of an hpv infection.
