This can be caused by abdominal muscle pain from over use; abdominal visceral pain from appendicitis, constipation, gas, ovarian cyst, or tumor; dissecting abdominal aneurysm; a disorder of the lumbar spine; or a bladder infection. Persistent pain is an indication to see a health care provider for a more thorough history & exam.

i've been having upper abdominal pain in the center area for two days now. did get some over the counter medication for cramps but the pain is still there. sitting forward helps with the pain and i also have a loss of appetite?

evaluation preferred over telemedicine for this complaint, unfortunately.

Doctor can evaluate: Many things are in the upper abdomen:  stomach, pancreas, liver, small intestine, gall bladder, large intestine, abdominal muscles, etc...  An exam by a primary care doctor can help figure things out. Pain in the right upper abdomen, especially with symptoms that occur after eating, can be due to gallstones or other gall bladder disease. A doctor can evaluate for gall bladder or other problems.

Sternal abdomidal: Without an exam we can only estimate what it might be. Xiphosternitis? Ulcer disease? Pancreatic disease, gall bladder with referred pain? Go over this with your doc.

do you have fever? is there blood in the diarrhea? have you had any stomach/intestinal issues in the past? does anyone else @home have  same symptoms?
if the answers to  above are No....Try eating "lightly"over next 24hrs. i..no dairy spicy foods etc...be sure to drink water/teas etc so you don't get dehydrated....if no improvement, see your Dr..
