Stomach: The most likely source in the left upper abdomen is your stomach especially with the transient nature of the pain. Your colon is a possibility as well. If you are consistently having these symptoms talk to your physician about testing and treatments. Over the counter heartburn medications like omeprazole may be a good place to start with a trial of therapy. Good luck.

You should see a spine doc who should be able to DX your problem and hopefully offer treatment for you.

More often: It is related to back pain. There aren't any attachments of muscles in the leg that i can think of would cause abdominal pain and none of the abdominal muscles extend into the leg.

Very likely you are: Experiencing gastroesophageal reflux disease.  This problem will definitely cause the symptoms you describe.  You should avoid alcohol, coffee and tea (including decaf), and highly seasoned foods.  Lists of foods to avoid are available in the internet.  Then you should be taking one off the many medicines that decrease stomach acid, ranitidine (Zantac), famotidine (Pepcid), pantoprazole (Protonix)
