Possibly: Pregnancy tests are quite accurate, but they are not perfect.  Premenstrual symptoms can easily be mistaken for pregnancy symptoms. You are probably not pregnant.  If you don't get your period in another 5 days, do another test to be sure.

Pregnancy: Symptoms of pregnancy are variable. Some women have them. Some women don't.  A positive test and no symptoms sounds normal.

Need tests: You ovulate 14 days prior to your next period. It is difficult to know this if your periods are irregular. You may have thyroid disease or polycystic ovary disease or something wrong with your control center in your brain. Simple tests by your gynecologist can help determine the cause of the irregularity. After, there are ovulatory drugs that can help you get pregnant.

Hello. : Hello. I can't tell you the reason for this.  But here are some thoughts. First off, most standard home pregnancy tests aren't designed to be used until you have actually missed your period. There can also be operator error. Most need to be done exactly as directed. For instance, if you let the test sit too long before reading it, it can appear to be positive when it is actually a negative. Also, if you let it sit too long, you could see a faint line (usually gray) which is not a positive on the pregnancy test (it is acutually an evaporation line from the urine as it dried).  There are a number of women who develop bloating and breast tenderness prior to their period. 
  My recommendation: 1. Delay doing pregnancy test until period is missed. 2. If you get a negative and want to repeat it - wait at least 2 to 7 days. 3. Perform the test exactly as directed (the timing with reading it is crucial) 4. Ask your doctor for a blood pregnacy test if there is signficant confusion.  Take care.

You probably are.: Most positive pregnancy tests indicate pregnancy.  However, there are other pathological conditions that give a positive pregnancy test:  eg. hydatidiform mole, and choriocarcinoma.  
An examination by a gynecologist is indicated.

Late period: Reasons for missed/late periods: low body weight, obesity, marked weight ^ or v, over-exercise, endurance athletics, breast-feeding, ^ stress, illness, eating disorders (bulimia or anorexia), anovulatory cycle (no egg released), travel, hormone irregularities, drug use, meds (i.e., birth control) or medical problems (i.e. Pcos). #1 reason is pregnancy.

Likely negative: It sounds as if it might be negative, because if it were positive at 5 minutes it would be more definitive than it was immediately after you took it.  You can take another test now, or take one in 2-3 days for confirmation.

Trust the test: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate. They are the same tests used in a doctor's office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.  If you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection.

See your GYN: Your GYN or primary care doctor can run a blood test for HCG which will be definitive.  You can discuss your symptoms with the doctor and see what else may be making you feel that way.
