ingrown toe nails cut out 5 weeks ago.  on cipro (ciprofloxacin) 7 days.  toes red, swollen throbbing.  now on clindamycin (3rd day) not better.  is it phenol acid burn?

Problem.: Cipro (ciprofloxacin) was not the best choice of antibiotic as it has no gram positive coverage. Toenail infections are usually staph infections. Clindamycin is a better choice. 5 weeks is a long time. Perhaps, there is a nail spicule still left? Baseline x-rays should be performed. Culture of any drainage should be done to see what bacteria is causing the problem. Follow closely with your doctor.

Otherwise try to stay off the toe as much as possible.  If you there is still quite a bit of pain and swelling after 7-10 days, then you should have it checked out.
