Regular activity.: It unfortunately takes as long as it takes to go into active labor. You cannot rush these things. Regular activity as tolerated, including sexual intercourse unless prohibited by your physician (or mood), is reasonable advice. Patience is a virtue. Keep all prenatal care appointments. Good luck!

Roughly about 3 days: Some estimates state that after stripping of membranes (a.k.a. "getting cervix sweep"), about 50-60% of patients go into labor within 72 hours.  I'm finding that in my own practice that percentage is really more like 40-50%.  Good luck!

You'll find out in: The next two weeks :-).  The baby and all the rest that you're carrying in the front puts some pressure on the veins  coming from your legs into the pelvis.  This causes a back pressure that results in the water retention found so often in pregnant women.  Elevate your feet as often as possible, and be patient.  Best of luck with the new baby.

PLEASE CALL YOUR OB: Now !  as you need immediate evaluation to make sure u do not have pre- eclampsia as u will need to be put on meds and get delivered if u do, and even if u do not have that, u need evaluation of the headache so if i was your OB i would send you straight to the labor room now for evaluation and to check the baby ., so please call your OB now.

No.: Betadine should be avoided in pregnancy because it can affect the maternal and fetal thyroid glands and cause complications from that. Do not use betadine pessaries in pregnancy!

Membrane stripping: You cannot do it, but your doctor can do membrane stripping which is separation of the amniotic membranes from the uterine wall. This leads to the release of prostonglandins, bioactive substances known to play a key rôle in labor induction.

Sex might help: Believe it or not, but semen contains prostaglandins, and this can sometimes cause contractions. Additionally, you may try warm compresses to your breast, followed by nipple stimulation. That being said, if you are contracting every 5 mins, you will hopefully be in labor soon. Beginning size : When you say you are 1 cm remember thats the beginning size of your cervix.  Is this your first pregancy.  If so, really try to relax and continue to be positive.  Stress is the enemy for so many of us so focus on wednesday.  Your doctors will continue to evaluate you as to why the baby has not dropped.  Share your concerns with them and bring a family member to help remember.

Sounds like it: Sounds like you are getting close. When the contractions are five minutes apart or your water breaks it is generally recommended you head to the hospital.
