Not relevant: When we are checking blood counts during pregnancy, assuming that the basic counts related to hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelets are normal for pregnancy, then we really do not spend too much time looking at these individual parameters related to red blood cells.  If there is a more specific problem being asked, please ask!

would a d&c be performed if a mother is miscarrying at 37/38 weeks pregnancy? and if so, how soon before the patient is discharged?

Term pregnancy: At that point, the pregnancy is full term and will be "stillborn."  A sad situation and I feel for her.
She will likely have her labor induced and deliver vaginally if possible.  The length of stay in the hospital will be similar to one for a regular birth.  This assumes the mother doesn't have a complication such as an infection.

Obgyn evaluation: You will need to contact your Obgyn to arrange an evaluation. Since you are near term you will need to make sure you did not break your water. You could just be dilating and passing your mucous plug. An evaluation will be needed to determine what is going on.

Talk To Your Doctor: In the 3rd trimester all the babies organs have already been formed & exposure to the medication has gone on presumably since conception. Still, the decision is one you must make with the input of your doctor after you weigh all of the benefits, alternatives, & risks.

Possibly: If the baby is delivered naturally the yeast could put the newborn at risk. I think your OB/GYN should address this question. Good luck

i have a stuffy nose and sore throat, is there any medications or home remedies i can take at 38 weeks pregnant?

Sore throat: If your symptoms are from a cold, a saline nasal spray should help but if you have chronic nasal congestion, rhinocort aqua, a prescription nasal spray, is safe to use during pregnancy. If your symptoms persist, you will need to see an allergist to determine why your nose is stuffy.

Mucous plug: This may be a small amount of bleeding from cervical dilation, or you may be losing your mucous plug. It is best to call your OB or midwife to discuss this.

Mucous plug: Some time before delivery, the mucous plug in the cervix is expelled. I suggest you inform your OB. Have you been nesting?

Yes: Swelling is common, as the fetus takes up so much room that vascular and other body parts are being moved and squeezed, so it is common to have a back up of fluid, especially in the extremities. At 38 weeks you should be seen by your OB for anything however. You are close! congratulations and good luck!

FAnsidar: This is not a medication that is available in the us. It is used to treat malaria. Assuming you have malaria, would suggest using a medication prescribed by your physician.
