would a d&c be performed if a mother is miscarrying at 37/38 weeks pregnancy? and if so, how soon before the patient is discharged?

Term pregnancy: At that point, the pregnancy is full term and will be "stillborn."  A sad situation and I feel for her.
She will likely have her labor induced and deliver vaginally if possible.  The length of stay in the hospital will be similar to one for a regular birth.  This assumes the mother doesn't have a complication such as an infection.

Mucous plug: Some time before delivery, the mucous plug in the cervix is expelled. I suggest you inform your OB. Have you been nesting?

Maybe: Though you will start having contractions to call it labor.  At 38 weeks, you can go into natural labor at any time, so you should have your bag packed to go to the hospital at any time.  The discharge is probably a physiologic discharge.

Not relevant: When we are checking blood counts during pregnancy, assuming that the basic counts related to hemoglobin, hematocrit and platelets are normal for pregnancy, then we really do not spend too much time looking at these individual parameters related to red blood cells.  If there is a more specific problem being asked, please ask!

Obgyn evaluation: You will need to contact your Obgyn to arrange an evaluation. Since you are near term you will need to make sure you did not break your water. You could just be dilating and passing your mucous plug. An evaluation will be needed to determine what is going on.

Maybe: Most women do have leukorrhea or a discharge of pregnancy.  dryness may mean infection like such as a yeast infection.  Chances are your OB is going to check your cervix at next visit.  mention the dryness

Mucous plug: This may be a small amount of bleeding from cervical dilation, or you may be losing your mucous plug. It is best to call your OB or midwife to discuss this.

See obstetrician: You need to be tested to be sure your membranes have  not ruptured, in which case decisions about delivery and monitoring need to be made.  Please go see them soon and have a great baby.
